Sedona, Az. and Montezuma Well

Sept. 24,2013
Today, we decided to go see Sedona, its a AZ. town that sets in the Red Rocks,Walked the streets checked out the stores sat down for a cup of coffee and watched people, which there was lots of then decided to go see the Church on the hill called "Chapel of the Holy Cross", it is quaint from the church you could see this beautiful home, it is absolutely gorgeous then we drove to the Montezuma Well,it contains 15 million gallons of water, every day it is supplied with 1.5 million gallons of water, its fed through a long narrow cave in the southeast rim and reappear on the other side of the outlet. There was a dwelling down by the well, you can still see the door way and part of the wall. Walking down the path Jay found a cactus that is "heart shaped". It was a long day so we headed home.

Montezuma Castle, Tuzigoot and Jerome, Az.

Sept. 23,2013

What a wonderful day. Headed out for sightseeing Went to Montezuma Castle, the farmers built a 5 story- 20 room dwelling sometime between 1000-1300. This is 100 feet above the valley. They use Beaver creek to supply water for the gardens. You are not allowed to go up to the dwelling, but you can get a good look from the path. They also used the trees for food and medicine. We then headed for Cornville to check out a RV Park that is an RPI and ROD which was in Page Springs, AZ.. on the way we saw 2 buck 1 doe trying to cross the highway, from there we went to Tuzigoot this dwelling was occupied between 1100-1425 AD it was a thriving community they people were called Sinagua.  The rooms are empty but a lot of the walls are still standing. You can go up on top and look out over at the remaining walls. Of Course, we only a few miles from Jerome so here we go. It reminded us of an old hippy left overs. Went thru Jerome into the King Gold Mine...a ghost town. There is a little gift shop and a back door $5.00 (Please) to go see a bunch of old rusty cars...So we left and drove down the hill and saw a different bunch of rusty old cars and trucks. We stopped in Jerome for lunch and walked the town.  Had enough so we headed back to the M/H.

Parker Dam and the Donkeys

Sept., 18,2013

Donkeys on the road
Sorry I didn't get these pictures out earlier..forgot about them.  This is the Parker Dam this body of water ( Colorado River) separates Cal. and AZ. When we go camping we are on the California side at Earp. Before 9/11 you could take your RV over the Dam and save time from Lake Havasu...now P/U and cars only..they have really skinnied up the road. The donkeys are always along or on the road on the Cal. side. Every year they try to thin them out. Some times they will stand in the road so you can't get around them until they want to move...they do have the right away the little darlings.

Benson

Sept. 16, 2013

We have been in Benson since Wednesday 9-11-13..We have some very good friends down here that needed some help  Vonnie was in the hospital for 45 days and Kirby has to take treatments 5 days a week..so we came down to stay with Vonnie while Kirby does his treatments in Tucson. Friday we did go golfing at San Pedro Golf Course. It is 18 holes only you cannot do 9, that hole is the farthest from the club house and they don't want you walking in with other golfers playing...so big mouth said lets play 18 OK Jay. We were so tired by the 14 hole we could hardly wiggle.  But we finished the 18. The price was right...it was $30.00 for 18 with a cart..I figure anything under $2.00 a hole is a bargain.. Next time we will walk away from "18 or nothing" that's if she keeps her mouth shut. It was 96 that day. The main sign on the golf course was "stay in fairways dangerous snakes". I figured they could have my two balls that I lost.
We will be leaving here Friday heading for Valley Verde for 2 weeks. It should be a lot cooler.

Hurricane, St George and Snow Canyon

Sept. 2,2013

We headed out looking for Harrisburg Ghost Town..The gal in the office sent us North, then a guy sent us South...we still haven't found it...I guess that is why they call the town a "ghost" you think....So we head Hurricane, St. Geo. and the Snow Canyon..There is a lot of Red Rocks and beautiful formations.. They claim there is turtles in the park. It cost $6.00 to enter the park, but it pays to be old it was only $3.00 Thanks Jay....Ha Ha. Jay was taking pictures and it only took us 20 mins. to figure out how to take a 10 sec. picture with the timer.....what fun...at least we had a good laugh...it was only 96 outside.

We decided against Gunnison, Co. The elevation is almost 8,000 ft. about the same as Ouray, I was having trouble with the swelling of the legs, feet, light headed(more than usual) and stomach upset.
We worked our way over to the bottom of Utah, will visit Cedar Break, Zion National Parks and Harrisburg is a ghost town. Last night we stayed in Richfield, Ut. had thunder, lightning and lots of rain.
The picture I'm going to sent is the red hills just entering into the St. George R V Park it is 91 and muggy.
